ORIGIN & BACKSTORY
MONTAGUE & ASSOCIATES
Montague & Associates was the name of my father’s financial services firm, which he always hoped one of his five daughters would take over. But, alas, it was never meant to be. So here’s to you, Dad: a bit late, but the family name lives on. Coincidentally, my LLC was established on what would have been his 93rd birthday!
My father always emphasized that to be successful, one had to “have a firm handshake, polished shoes, clean fingernails—and look ‘em in the eyes.“
And it’s a mantra I carry on today.
EXPERIENCE IN PHILANTHROPY & DEVELOPMENT
The rest of the backstory goes something like this:
- My volunteer interests originated as a child growing up in Springfield, IL. with parents active in ‘giving back’ to the community. They taught their five daughters the same.
- During my last semester of college I received an internship in Washington, DC and stayed for several years working on Capitol Hill.
- Moved to Chicago as Fundraising Director for a female candidate running for Congress.
- Hired at WTTW/Channel 11, a national production center / local PBS station in Chicago. Managed corporate fundraising, selling million dollar productions, as well as initiating the first advertising campaign on public TV.
- After 15 years, left as WTTW VP National Sales and Marketing to pursue a new career in executive search. My a-ha moment happened while Nominating Chair for a local non-profit.
- Started my 20 years with DHR International, conducting for-profit professional services and manufacturing searches.
- After five years, I transitioned to my passion of working with non-profits.
- Recruited to join Heidrick & Struggles, a publicly traded global search firm.
- On February 5, 2019, launched Montague & Associates with three former DHR colleagues.
